About

b. 1986, HK.

Sarah Messina is an artist, designer, team community organizer, and teacher living and working in Philadelphia and New York City. Sarah has spent the last 17+ years advancing her career within the arts and specializing in meaningful teaching, event organizing, and print and web projects that include creative approaches to personal representation and storytelling. Sarah has partnered with a wide range of clients, primarily women and queer entrepreneurs, community organizations, and media companies. Sarah is passionate about working with those who invoke individualism, drive, and impactful ideals that help stories and creative experiences come to life.

Along with Sarah’s design career, her passion for community and art has been built on years of connecting with and working with other artists. She finds joy in uplifting those around her and she is continuously inspired by other artists and their stories. In 2019, Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy and DIEP Flap reconstruction. Being so young, Sarah knew she wanted to help others who were going through the same and similar experiences with breast cancer, so she created The Creative Self Project, which is a creative outlet for young previvors, thrivers, survivors, and metavivors.

The drive behind connecting art and community together has also shone through in Sarah’s time in graduate school. In pursuing a Master of Arts in American Studies at Stockton University, she has been able to focus her research on the intersection of race, gender, sexuality, and art history.
